Languages at Our School
At our school, learning a new language opens doors to the wider world and helps children develop confidence, curiosity, and cultural understanding. Our Languages curriculum introduces pupils to the joy of communicating in another language and builds strong foundations for future language learning.
Through engaging lessons, songs, stories, and interactive activities, children learn to listen carefully, speak clearly, and begin to read and write in the target language. They develop core skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary building, and simple sentence structure, while exploring the customs and traditions of different countries.
We aim to foster positive attitudes towards language learning by creating a fun, inclusive environment where every child feels confident to have a go. As pupils progress through the school, they grow not only in linguistic ability but also in their appreciation of global diversity and their role as respectful, open-minded citizens of the world.
Our goal is to inspire a love of languages that continues throughout secondary school and beyond. The language our children study from Year 3 - Year 6 is French.
